IAS toppers get married at picturesque Pahalgam
Ms. Dabi took to the social media three years ago to announce her love for Mr. Khan
Indian Administrative Services (IAS) toppers, Tina Dabi (25) and Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan (26),
one described as a Dalit icon and another motivation for Kashmir,
arranged a destination wedding at south Kashmir’s tourist hotspot and
picturesque Pahalgam this weekend, which was attended by the family
members and close friends.
Ms. Dabi from Delhi topped IAS examination in 2015 and Mr. Khan from Kashmir stood second. Both were assigned for the Rajasthan cadre later.
A family friend told The Hindu that the two got married at a hotel in Pahalgam, 90 km south of Srinagar, over this weekend.
Mr. Khan, a resident of south Kashmir village of Devipora in Mattan, also organised a function at home for guests from Delhi. The bride, in a traditional Kashmiri reception, was driven to the groom’s house in Mattan.
Ms. Dabi took to the social media three years ago to announce her love for Mr. Khan, hitting the headlines in the media. The two are believed to have met at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy for Administration in Mussoorie.
Mr. Khan is the second person from Kashmir, after Dr. Shah Faesal, to get a top spot in the UPSC examination.
