Gautham Menon-Karthick Naren online spat ends
Kollywood directors Gautham Menon and Karthick Naren have been at loggerheads on social media.
The last two days has seen a war of words between young filmmaker Karthik Naren and director Gautham Menon, with both tweeting against each other. But, there seems to be light in the end of the tunnel, with Gautham posting a long note stating that “the misunderstanding is sorted.”
It all started when filmmaker Karthick Naren tweeted on Monday using phrases such as ‘misplaced trust’ and ‘passion getting butchered’, without taking any names. It became clear only after a while that he was referring to Gautham Menon when the Kaakha Kaakha filmmaker took a jibe at him on social media. Karthik later posted: “While everybody advised against it, I had the pair to trust you and collaborate, sir. In return, we were treated like trash and made to invest on our own.”
The issue became bigger when Arvind Swami, one of the main leads of Naragasooran, tweeted, “Yes, we all can grow a few things, a pair of eyes that sees what we do to others, a pair of ears to hear the truth, a conscience to tell us when we are wrong and a pair of whatever to accept our mistakes and apologise...instead we grow our list of commitments that we can’t keep.”
Even as the issue seemed to be going out of proportion, Gautham Menon’s note signals some cheer...not just to fans of Tamil cinema, but also to Karthik himself. “Every other producer goes through this. And when a team does good work, there will be somebody trying to bring the team down. That’s all it is.”
Gautham made it clear that there’s a plan to complete work on Naragasooransoon. “We are working towards making this film see the light of the day or the darkness of a movie hall very soon,” he writes.
